Michael Sherman

Born: December, 1719 in Dartmouth, Bristol County, Mass.

Died: April 3, 1784 in Union Vale, Dutchess County, NY.


His father was William Sherman

His mother was Susannah Allen


He was married to Deborah Briggs in Little Compton, Newport County, Rhode Island.

Michael and Deborah had five children, all born in Dartmouth, MA:

  Jedediah Sherman  born Mar. 26, 1745  (no  children)
  Briggs Sherman    born -about-  1747  (no  children)
  Susanna Sherman   born -about-  1749  (no  children)

Michael Sherman served as a private in Captain Robert Earl's
Dartmouth County regiment, and/or in Colonel Joshiah (Josiah)
Whitney's regiment.  He served from July 29 to September 11
of 1778 (one month, 14 days) at Rhode Island.

NOTE: There are two birth years referenced for Michael Sherman,
1717 and 1719; however given that a sibling was reported born on 
January 1, 1718, it seems likely that the Dec. 1719 birth date is 
the more likely of the two, so I am using that date.
