His mother was 1773 Mary (last name unknown).


He is listed in the 1810 Census for Sempronius, Cayuga County, NY
with (apparently) a wife and two children, but that is not certain.

He is listed as head of household in the 1830 census for Sempronius,
Cayuga County, NY with the following notations for the household:

  Male, age 20 to 30:   1
  Male, age 60 to 70:   1  (probably his father?)

  Female, age 30 to 40: 1  (probably his wife)
  Female, age 50 to 60: 1  (possibly his mother)
  Female, age 70 to 80: 1
  
No names are provided to indicate who these five persons might be.
As Briggs would have been approximately 39 years of age at this time,
it seems likely that the five persons are in addition to himself as
the head of household, as there are no males listed between the ages
of 30 and 60.
