1829 Nancy Christina Jones (Livingston) Obituary

This is the transcription of the Obituary of shown at right of Nancy Christina (Jones) Livingston: - OBITUARY - On Sunday evening, July 2d, at nine o'clock, occured the death of Mrs. Nancy Christina (Jones) Livingston, at her home in Center Village, N.Y., aged 82 years, 3 months and 1 day. Mrs. Livingston suffered a slight shock, June 1st, which confined her to her bed. She was tenderly cared for by loving hands, but on account of her advanced age and enfeebled conditions her recovery was not looked for, and after lingering a month she passed peacefully away. Four of her children were at her bedside when the summons came and she was cheerful and spoke words of comfort to them until the very last. The eyes that have been blind for a long time can now see in a brighter and happier land than this. The funeral service was held at the home on Tuesday evening, July 4th, at 7:00 p.m., and on Wednesday the remains were taken to Cascade Valley, N.Y., for burial in the family plot. She was the dauthter of Nathanial and Elizabeth Jones, and was born in Schoharie, near the old fort, one mile from the village, on April 1st, 1829 and her early life was spent in that section. January 15th, 1852 she was married to Thomas Livingston and almost sixty years of continued peaceful and happy wedded life was rounded out to them. She united with the Baptist church early in life, and has ever since been a faithful and earnest Christian. At the time of her death she was a member of the Harpursville, N.Y. Baptist church. She was the mother of a large family of children and is survived by her husband, Thomas Livingston, and six sons and daughters, George and Myron of Windsor; Broeffle of Lestershire; Mrs. Carrie Teale of Perch Pond Hill; Mrs. Emma C. Broffie, of Amsterdam, and Mrs. Jennie Bosket, of Cascade Valley. Rev. C.A. Hubbel, pastor of the Harpursville Baptish church, officiated at the funeral. G.L.
