1847 Solomon Swathing Livingston

Born: Dec. 2, 1847 at Schoharie County, NY Died: About 1928 at Straight River Township, Hubbard County, MN He was buried in Greenwood cemetery, Straight River Township, Minn. His father was probably 1803 Hugh Solomon Livingston. His mother was probably Lavinia Dickinson. The identify of Solomon's parents is somewhat speculative. His middle name may be either "Swathing" or "Swatling". He was married Nov. 26, 1873 to Martha A. Young at Clinton, Wisconsin. Solomon and Martha had six children together: ____ (Daughter, died in infancy) ____ Maynard Livingston (died in 1923) ____ Estella Livingston (later of Park Rapids, MN) ____ Roy C. Livingston (later of Park Rapids, MN) ____ (name unknown) (Mrs. J.A. Bengston of Denver, Colorado) ____ Guy S. Livingston (later of Harvey, North Dakota) After their marriage, Solomon and Martha lived for a time in Manchester, Boone County, Illinois, moving to Hubbard County, Minnesota in Oct. 1898, where they settled on a farm in Straight River Township. There they remained until the time of Solomon's death. NOTE: his obituary contains contradictory information; it states that he died at the age of 81, which would mean that he died about 1928; it also states that he had moved to Hubbard County, Minnesota in Oct. 1898 and died there 32 years later, which would mean that he died about 1930. We don't know at this time which is correct. Here is a photocopy of his obituary.
