Rev. Ivan Pulis

The Rev. Ivan T. Pulis, 68, former pastor of Livingston Bible Church,
died July 2 (1976) in a Billings (Montana) nursing home.

Services were conducted Tuesday morning in Terrace Gardens Memorial
Chapel, Billings, with Dr. Max E. Tucker of the Billings Bible Church
and the Rev. David Peterson of the Montana Institute of the Bible,
officiating.

Graveside and committal services were held Tuesday afternoon in
Mountain View Cemetery, Livingston.

He was born April 17, 1908 in Selby, South Dakota.  The family moved
to Woodburn, Ore. in 1919.  In 1926, they moved to a ranch in Wilsall.

He graduated from the Denver Bible Institute in 1934, and served on
the staff and later on the faculty there until 1937.

He married Margaret ("Bessie") M. Gozzard on June 3, 1937.  They moved
to Wilsall where he was pastor of the Community Church for five years.

In 1942, he became pastor of the Livingston Bible Church where he
served for 16 years (until 1959).  In 1959 the family moved to Billings,
where he joined the faculty of the Montana Institute of the Bible.

Ill health forced him to retire in 1973 (age 65).  Mr. Pulis also
managed the family ranch from 1958 until his retirement in 1973.

He served as dean of students, dean of educating and school chaplain
at the Montana Institute of the Bible.  He was named an ex-officio...
member of the board and recently was appointed to a faculty emeritus
post. 

A new educational structure, built on Institute ground in Lewistown,
was dedicated May 10, 1974.  It was called the Ivan T. Pulis Academic
Center in his honor.

In addition to his wife Bessie, he is survived by a son, Dwight, of
Wilsall; two daughters, Elaine Inabnit of Lewistown and Ruth Carder
of the Paradise Valley; two brothers, Milton of Sun City, Arizona,
and the Rev. Harley Pulis of Thermopolis, WY and five grandchildren.

N.B. The Paradise Valley mentioned above is in Park County, Montana,
not to be confused with Paradise, Montana which is near Plains, west
of Missoula and north of St. Regis.
