His father was Joseph Lester Asbury.

His mother was Vervian Ona Waite.

He was born before February 7, 1920, probably in late January
or in the first week of February.  His mother died on Feb. 7
of 1920.

Vernon only survived less than two years.  He contracted the
"Spanish Flu" which swept the world in 1918.  His mother died
on Feb.  7, 1920 of the same illness, shortly after giving birth 
to Vernon, and he followed her in death the following year.
