1935 Charles Stewart Sherman

Born: Apr. 4, 1935 at Afton, Chenango County, NY.

Died: Mar. 8, 2013 at Norwich, Chenango County, NY.

His father was 1891 William C. Sherman

His mother was 1896 Helen Mae Snedeker

He was married to 1936 Marcia Joan Miller on Jan. 16, 1955 at Afton, NY.
They had three children together:

Charles Stewart Sherman Jr. (aka "Chuck")
  Randy Louis Sherman
  David Lee Sherman

Until his death, Charlie and Marcia were still living on the Sherman
homestead in Afton Township, on Sherman Hill Road at East Afton Road.

Charlie was a musician, nationally known and highly respected; he
played the violin (or "fiddle"), and started a blue-grass band
called "The Ridge Runners".

Here you can listen to clip #1 of Charlie's Band c.1970 #1.

The narrator is my aunt and Charlie's cousin, 1926 Ruth Esther Sherman.

Unfortunately, the recordings were made a long time ago with an
inexpensive cassette recorder, so the quality is very poor, but
it is all we have, and it is better than not having them at all.

In the photo below right, Charlie is at the far left in the back.
Seated at front are his parents. The year is 1970; Charlie was 35.

As Charlie used to sign off after an evening's performance:

"This is your old friend Charlie Sherman and The Ridge Runners
saying good night, drive careful and may God bless each and every
one of you...Good Night."
